Anti-allergen Treatment

PRO-TEC Carpet Care now offers a new service to relieve allergy and asthma symptoms.  We can reduce levels of dust mite and pet allergens in your home up to 90% or more, for up to 6 months.

Allergens from dust mites and pets are the most potent allergens found in indoor air, but now we can minimize your exposure to these illness-causing substances.  We first use specially formulated cleaning agents, then apply a hypoallergenic solution on your carpets, mattresses, upholstery, rugs, and bedding.  This solution contains a powerful ingredient derived from naturally occurring extracts found in renewable fruit and vegetable seeds.  This treatment changes the shape of allergen proteins, making them unrecognizable to the body, which prevents them from causing an allergic reaction.

Some FAQ regarding allergens and how to find relief:

Q.  What is an allergen?
A.  A substance that triggers an allergic reaction in the immune system of a susceptible person.  Most allergens are proteins, such as pollen, dust-mite droppings and animal dander.

Q.  Why are dust mites and animal dander so offensive?
A.   Exposure to these allergens can lead to asthma, sinusitus and other allergic illnesses, especially in young children.

Q.  How can I reduce the allergens in my home?
A.  Vacuum frequently, wash bedding once a week, and have your home "treated" every 6 months of if allergies are severe, every 3 months.

Q.  What does a dust mite look like?
A.  These microscopic, eight-legged critters are 0.3mm in length (7,000 can fit on a fingernail) and are invisible to the naked eye.

Q.  What actually causes the development and aggravation of allergies?
A.  Are you ready for this??  Dust mite feces.  A dust mite will produce 200 times its own body weight in feces during its short lifetime.

Q.  Where do dust mites most frequently occur?
A.  Mattresses contain 60% of the dust mites found in your home.  Because we spend 1/3 of our lives in bed, the bedroom is the number one treatment priority.

Q.  How many people suffer from pet allergens?
A.  15% of the U.S. population is allergic to pets and other animals.

Q.  What's the solution to this problem?
A.  Vets will tell you, "Get rid of the animals."  We tell you to let us help you with our anti-allegen process applied to your home furnishings, carpets, rugs, and bedding; the residual effect will last up to 6 months; in severe cases, treatment may be required every three months.

Q.  What kinds of chemicals do you use?
A.  We do not use chemicals.  The treatment contains no benzyl benzoate and is not a pesticide or mitacide.  Our products are hypoallergenic, non-toxic, dye and perfume free, contain no volatile organic compounds (VOC's), phosphates or other hazardous materials and are biodegradable and environmentally safe.  As stated above, the products we use are derived from renewable fruit and vegetable seeds.  The products are virtually odor free and have been specially formulated for use around people with allergic illnesses and chemical sensitivities.  They can be safely and effectively used in home with children and pets.

Q.  What are your sources of information?
A.  The Institute of Medicine (Washington, DC), Auckland University School of Medicine, Research IBT Reference Laboratory, Kansas and MasterBlend, Colorado.
